Barclays Bank of Botswana is committed to the sustainable development of the communities in which we operate. Our community program is at the heart of our sustainability agenda and continues to grow and strengthen. Our Sustainability Agenda is inclusive of; Customers and Clients; Diversity and Our People; Responsible Global Citizenship; Inclusive Banking and; Environment.
Our Community Investment Program that falls under Responsible Global Citizenship is based on three major strategies:
1. Banking on Brighter Futures
Projects include issues of financial inclusion, Skills development, Entrepreneurship and access to employment, education particularly financial education.
- Stepping Stones International – Mochudi Income generating Projects
- Somarelang Tikologo – Environmental Conservation and micro enterprise
- YWCA – Financial Education, Entrepreneurial and skills development
- Thapong Visual Arts – Skills development and income generation
- Koffi Cabin –UB Business Clinic – Income generation
Health, Environmental conservation, Children and Youth, Family Welfare
- SOS Children’s Village – Serowe House for orphans and vulnerable children in Serowe
- Cancer Association of Botswana – Awareness and strengthening support groups
- Bana Ba Keletso – Molepolole Life skills training camps and purchase educational materials for the children.

- Pelegano Home Based Care – Makeleng - sewage system for this home based care that has been established to care for elderly people
- Primary Schools – P 60,850 Forty eight schools in rural areas were assisted mainly to purchase library books and computer literacy
Throughout the year collages have been actively involved in numerous projects that have affected the lives of over 1000 people.
- Earth Day Celebrations in Mochudi, Gaborone, Otse and Gumare
- Orphan Care, Family Welfare and support in Gaborone, Maun, Masunga
- Approximately P 50,000 has been raised through colleague fundraising activities
Make a Difference Day
This is an annual campaign that takes place during the month of October where colleagues are encouraged to share their time and skill with communities throughout Botswana. Our accomplishments this year include:
- Over 90% of colleagues participated
- P 1 Million was spent on a total of 72 projects ranging from orphan care, establishing vegetable gardens, financial and legal education, computer literacy, sports
