- Graduates programme
What the programme offers
Our Graduates programme aims at identifying talented and gifted graduates in order to train and develop them for various managerial and leadership roles in the business. This will ensure a constant stream of high calibre individuals who will support the Barclays talent management and succession plans.
Programme duration and rotation
The programme runs over a two year period with the graduates being exposed for a period of six months to functional areas, and then rotating to other areas. All the participants will go through Operations, Retail, Commercial as well as other functions rotation to have a full appreciation of the business. They then get an opportunity to select an elective during the last six months.
Rotations are based on a combination of business and opportunities for personal development, but our graduates’ wishes will be accommodated whenever possible.

Candidates, who apply for the programme, need to provide the following:
- A detailed curriculum vitae and application letter.
- A motivational letter (2-3 pages) which explains the reasons for wanting to join Barclays and a clear career path or career aspiration.
- Copies of results slips ( academic transcripts)
- Names of two referees being lecturers/ tutors/professors at the University and one from a community service.
- Proven record of leadership qualities outside the University (Community service)
Eligible applicants
- Citizens of Botswana and Permanent residents
- Applicants with outstanding academic record
- Applicants who are computer literate
- Individuals who have recently graduated
- Applicants who demonstrate strong leadership qualities outside the University.
Selection criteria
- A GPA of at least 3.6 and above
- A strong record of academic achievements
- Degree holder/ masters
Academic qualifications will not be the sole criterion: successful candidates will also be assessed for:
- Strength in conceptual and analytical skills
- Extra curricular activities
- Community involvement
- Excellence in interpersonal, communication and team skills
- Willingness and ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrate adaptability, initiative and resourcefulness
- Presentation skills
