Local Businesses Praise Barclays

Local businesses have commended Barclays Bank of Botswana for the sterling job of empowering them on business management. The accolades came in during the ongoing seminars for the Business Club members held by the Barclays Local Business Unit.

According to Beatrice Dziekpor, a local entrepreneur who runs a hair salon and a catering business, the seminars were an eye opener in basic business management.

“These seminars are not a sales pitch from Barclays. They have immensely given me ideas on how to run my businesses,” said Beatrice who has been a member of the Barclays Business Club since 2004.

Having been an entrepreneur for the past 11 years, Beatrice says she has leant how to handle and interact with her employees at a more professional level, facilitating a better relationship with them.

For Silindeni Ntibi who is into poultry farming, the Barclays Business Club seminars have enhanced her business ethics skills. She has been a regular participant at these sessions in the past four years.

“The current seminars dealing with business ethics have been helpful to me, as we all need to conduct our businesses professionally.”

In 2003, Barclays set up the Business Club as an offering in the Local Business unit with the aim of working intimately with entrepreneurs for their business growth and sustainability. The seminars also provide a platform for entrepreneurs to network with business people from other industries.

The Business Club seminars have so far been held in Gaborone, Francistown, Kanye and Lobatse and Tsabong. They will move to Selibe Phikwe, Palapye, Kasane and Maun with Business Ethics as the main theme.
