Gabane Home Based Care commends Barclays
29 April 2008
A Member of the Gabane Community Home Based Care Executive, Mr. Benjamin Motlhalamme has lauded Barclays Bank of Botswana for its robust corporate social responsibility programme.
His accolades come in recognition of the bank’s donation towards the construction of classrooms for use by children who have been affected by HIV and AIDS. Mr. Motlhalamme said what is even more commendable is the level at which the bank has extended its corporate responsibility programme to employees, instilling in them the spirit of national building as espoused in the national Vision 2016.
“These classrooms have come in very handy for us and allowed the children access to enhanced life skills by virtue of them attending classes here. We are honoured and humbled for/by Barclays’ gesture and will remain indebted to the bank for that” he said.
For her part, the bank’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Esther Norris said they are fully committed to continuing to identify projects that will positively impact the lives of the less privileged in society.
“We are very grateful for the support we’ve had from the nation since our inception in 1950, and will continue to invest back into the society for sustainable relationships. This is yet another initiative that symbolises our gratitude for that support and further reaffirms our commitment to the development of the country.” said Norris.
The Gabane Community Home Based Care was established in 1997. Barclays co-funded the construction of the P262-thousand classrooms with Masiela Trust Fund in 2007.
