What is Chequemate?
Chequemate is an electronic cheque writing system that will allow your organization outsource the printing and signing of cheques to Barclays.
How does it work?
Upon signing up for the service, we will install our software at your premises, and this will allow you to directly download your accounts payable file into our software and encrypt it. The encrypted file will then be transported electronically to Barclays, together with authority to process the file. Barclays will print the cheques and have them delivered to you by a reputable courier company. A listing of all the cheques printed will be included in the mailbag, for your confirmation.
If you choose to print corporate cheques, then your signatures will be scanned and pre-printed on the cheques, thus ensuring that you do not have to sign the individual cheques, once the file has been authorised. The bank reconciles your Cheque Mate account on a daily basis and any exceptions are dealt with promptly. At the end of each month, we will provide you with reconciliation data, comprising the following reports; Cheques issued during the month, Cheques presented during the month and a list of outstanding Cheques as at the end of that month.
Benefits
ChequeMate offers you the following benefits:
- You benefit from float: - Your account gets debited only when the cheque is presented for payment, giving you an opportunity to invest the funds in the meantime
- Reduced Internal Administration: - No more writing or signing cheques and even reconciliation is done by the bank!
- Monitor your payments: - The bank is increasingly able to monitor details of your payments and in this manner significantly help in minimizing fraudulent activity.
- You Save Management Time: - senior managers will be able to focus their time and energy on your core business since cheque writing and signing is a manual non-value adding activity. Management authorize on one schedule instead of signing each individual cheque.
- Security: - Physical security over blank cheque stationary is left to the bank.
