Barclays Bank Tanzania - The Expansion Story 2007 going forward
In an effort to expand our retail market and appeal to a new generation of customers, Barclays Bank Tanzania Limited has for the past six month been shoring up preparations to serve the variant needs of the marketplace. This has involved extending some of our product lines, introducing new product to make our services more attractive to a broader range of customers. This has included developing a concise branch network to bring banking closer to the people as part of Barclays Bank Tanzania’s ‘Launch Campaign Strategy’ regarding new branch openings.
Being the Leading Bank
The move by Barclays is in line with our vision of being a leading contributor to this country’s future and our intention is to make it easier for customers to obtain our services and make banking easily accessible to all. As a bank we understand that a large part of the population does not make use of banking services as they believe that their earning power is dismal or erratic and that to maintain accounts in the formal banking sector is something beyond their means- which is untrue.
The result - Millions of Tanzanian’s are cut-off banking facilities and are unable to build up a credit records and improve their lifestyle by accessing bank services. Solution? In order to assist and cater towards these people needs, as well as expanding the bank’s capabilities, we at Barclays have now began the progress of expanding our customer base by launching products specifically aimed at entry-level customers. This is in line with our future growth plan to provide convenient access to banking services, increasing capability through sales teams in a greater way than before and create local presence through the opening of new branches.
