EgyptWhat we are doingWe’ll work with the National Council for Youth, which is the main governmental body responsible for young people in Egypt, and the main youth NGO, the Youth Association for Population and Development, which is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the project. Together, we’ll introduce a series of targeted and integrated activities into 50 youth centres with memberships ranging from 500 to more than 2000. The activities will include teaching the entrepreneurial, employability and life skills needed to get a job or start a business; developing a database of local employment programmes and services; and providing career guidance, support and referral through counselling centres that will be established at the youth centres. In addition, we’ll provide micro-credit finance and small-business training to up to 25 promising young people who want to start their own businesses, and help others access work placements to gain valuable experience. We’ll encourage local Barclays employees to get involved, by teaching CV-writing skills and interview techniques, and finding work placements within Barclays and with Barclays corporate clients.
About the partnership
The partnership aims to develop the skills of young people in the communities where Barclays operates by focusing on opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship and enterprise. The individual projects will help disadvantaged young people across the globe access education, find employment and start businesses.
