What we are doing

We’ll work with existing organisations in the country, who’ll implement the project’s various initiatives on our behalf. We’ve identified these partners after discussions with the Department of Social Protection and the Child Rights Ombudsman Office.

The initiatives will provide shelter, protection and support to children living on the street; support families in crisis thereby reducing the number of street children in the long term; fuel the aspirations of young people; and equip them with the skills they need to prepare for the workplace.

Our partners in Moscow will be the Moscow Centre for Youth Labour and Employment, and educational centre Bolshaya Peremena (‘Big Change’). In St Petersburg, they will be the St Petersburg Regional Charity Public Foundation, the Red Cross (Centre of International Co-operation), and Little Mother Shelter, a governmental organisation that supports young mothers.

We’ll encourage local Barclays employees to get involved, and will identify opportunities with our partners in all three locations.

About the partnership

About the partnership Barclays has joined forces with UNICEF to help children and young people around the world achieve a brighter future for themselves and their communities. The partnership will undertake projects in more than 10 countries and commit US$10 million in addition to employee volunteering time over three years.

The partnership aims to develop the skills of young people in the communities where Barclays operates by focusing on opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship and enterprise. The individual projects will help disadvantaged young people across the globe access education, find employment and start businesses.
