International Cheque Account
Our International Cheque Account is available in sterling, US dollars or euros. The account gives you:

Instant access to your money using one of our banking cards.
Maximum flexibility, allowing you to withdraw without notice (as long as you have enough money in your account).
The ability to earn interest on the money in your account. Interest is paid on balances of £2,000 or more (or the equivalent in another currency)*. View our interest rates.
Easy control over your day to day spending. You can set up standing orders and direct debits for regular payments. A cheque book is available on request.
A Deferred Debit Card** for convenient instant access to your money.

The Barclays Bank Account
Alternatively if you need a cheque account that is held in the UK, the Barclays Bank Account may be ideal for you. This account is also available for residents of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Otherwise it is not suitable for non-UK residents.

Your relationship in the UK will be with Barclays Bank PLC except for residents of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man where it will be with Barclays Private Clients International Ltd.

* Providing you keep a minimum cleared balance of £2,000 in your account at all times during a charging month you will not be charged for withdrawing money from your account for withdrawals (debits) made in the currency in which your cheque account is denominated. If your balance falls below £2,000 during a charging month, you will be charged £1 for each debit to your account that month. Interest on US dollars and euros is calculated on a 360-day year.
