Moving home can be a stressful event, but you can get plenty of help online. Most sites suggest you begin planning your move four to six weeks before you are due to leave.

Relocation Services
You may want to work with one of the many relocation specialists based in the UK who provide a service in overseas countries. They can assist you with issues like finding a place to live and selecting suitable schools.

Professional Removers
Moving home can be traumatic enough at any time, let alone when you are moving your possessions overseas.

You may wish to contact the British Association of Removers (BAR) and choose a contractor from its international member companies. Contact the association on +44 (0)20 8861 3331 or visit their website. Ask for its free 'Moving abroad' leaflet.

All the association's international member companies have links with equally reputable removers overseas, through the Federation of International Furniture Removers (FIDI).

A BAR qualified remover can also give you guidance on relevant import/export licences and customs and excise regulations.
