Family Package

A flexible service to ensure a student's finances abroad are easy to manage.

By opening a Global Saver* package with Barclays Bank PLC, with a maintained minimum balance of £10,000 (or currency equivalent), the student is entitled to a comprehensive range of products and services, including:

Barclays Bank Account with a Connect (VISA debit) card, Barclaycard and chequebook (subject to status and application; aged 18 or over).
Overdraft of up to 10% of the value of the savings held by your parent/benefactor.
Banking with no minimum balance requirement.
Barclays Emergency Assist for interpretation services, lost passport assistance and messaging services.

The parent or benefactor opening a Global Saver account in order to receive the Family Package also benefits from:

An International Savings Account with access to debit and credit cards.
Good returns of interest on savings, free of UK tax.
Free online money transfers between their and the student's account. Saving them approximately £40 per international transfer.**
The Savings Solutions package for free in the first year - this is a saving of £50 which is the normal rate charged.
Assistance on buying a UK property.
International telephone and online banking facilities, 7 days a week, day and night.

Reassurance, access and control
The parent or guardian becomes a joint account holder of the Global Saver account and maintains their Savings Solutions account with access limited to them. This allows the parents access to the students account to help manage spending and balances so they will never be without the essential funds they need.

Premier Banking
Our Premier Banking service complete with dedicated Relationship Manager and a range of exclusive features is also available to customers who place at least £100,000 with Barclays International Banking.

* There can only be one named person on the Savings Solutions account for parent or benefactor, who will also need to be a joint account holder on the Student Solutions account.

** Free money transfers are only available from your parents/benefactors' account to your account and not the other way round. To enjoy free transfers, they need to be made using International Online Banking. The costs may vary from country to country. If the accounts are not denominated in the same currency then you will face currency exchange risk.
