What happens next

Account opening
Upon receipt of your fully completed application form and supporting account information Barclays Wealth will arrange to open your account within 5 working days.

Welcome letter
If you notify us of your email address we will email your welcome letter to you containing your new account details. Note: we will advise you by email if we cannot open your account for any reason.

Account Stationery :

• You should arrange with your local bank to send an electronic money transfer to Barclays Wealth to fund your new account. You will need to quote your new bank sort code and account number on the transfer.
• You should allow 4 working days for the funds to reach your account at which point you should call the Barclays Wealth International Student Helpline on +44 (0)20 7751 6516† to order your account stationery.
• You will be asked for a UK correspondence address to which we will send your account stationery. This consists of a Barclays Connect card, chequebook and international telephone and online banking membership card.
• The stationery can be ready for collection upon your arrival in the UK, but you should allow 7 working days from ordering the card to its arrival at your UK correspondence address.
• Please note that Barclays Wealth cannot send account stationery to a non-UK address. If you do not have a UK correspondence address before you depart for the UK you can access cleared funds from your account from any Barclays branch in the UK* on condition you show a copy of your Barclays Wealth welcome letter and you have 1 form of identification with you (for withdrawals up to £300). We suggest you take your passport or EU Identity card. For withdrawals in excess of £300 you will need an additional form of identification such as a driving licence (with photo).
